With Easter around the corner, it’s time to build up the Easter Spirit around the house with some arts and crafts. This Easter Bunny Canvas is fun and easy enough for the children to get involved to! You can also take this opportunity to teach the kids a few things about Easter.

Things you’ll need

  1. canvas
  2. craft paint
  3. white yarn
  4. scrapbook paper
  5. double sided tape
  6. twine
  7. optional: Bunny stencil or vinyl sticker if you don’t feel like drawing the bunny

Method

  1. Make the pom pom, by cutting a square from firm cardstock or find an object that is the size of the diameter you would like your pom pom to be. Next, wrap the yarn around the coaster over and over again – as many times as you need to get the fullness you’d like your pompom to be. Carefully slide the yarn out from the card and tie another piece of yarn around the middle. Stick your scissors in the loops and cut them. Trim down any uneven ends and fluff it up.
  2. Draw your bunny lightly onto the canvas or place your bunny stencil in the middle of the canvas.  Make sure the  edges are stuck down well so that the paint does not bleed through.
  3. Paint the canvas around the bunny blue.
  4. If you have used a stencil, remove it to expose the white canvas- If you have not used a stencil, you may want to paint the bunny white.
  5. Cut a small slit with a sharp knife {approximately 3/4 inch} in the canvas where you want the tail to go.  Pull some of the yarn through until the tail stays in place.
  6. Cut a few triangles from some scrapbook paper and glue them to the twine and the canvas with some double sided tape.

Happy Easter Everyone!
