What you will need:

  • Paint, two or more colours of your choice
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint rollers and paint brushes
  • Masking tape
  • Rags
  • Primer
  • Tape measure

Method:

  1. Ensure your floors are clean before you begin.
  2. Sand the floors to give them some grit. The paint will adhere better this way. Wipe dust away and ensure floors are clean again.
  3. Prime the floor with your floor primer. 2 to 3 coats works best.
  4. Decide on your ideal width of stripe, measure them out on your floor and draw lines in pencil to guide you.
  5. Mark lines with masking tape.
  6. Paint different colours in between the various lines. You will need to paint about 2-3 coats allowing 2 hours in between each coat to dry.
  7. Remove tape once you are done with each colour, so that you can apply tape over dried colour to begin the next colour.
  8. Once all stripes are painted allow the floor over a week to cure. It is advisable to walk with socks on the floor until fully cured.
